The holidays are here and if you’re selling your home right now, here’s three simple ways to make sure things go smoothly while you’re getting some much needed r&r….

Bring in a friend – having someone who can pop in on your home and air it regularly, pick up post and keep plants watered will give you piece of mind that your home is still being shown at its best while you’re not there. It’s also helpful for estate agent to have a point of contact locally who can step in should there be any practical problems with keys or security alarms while you’re away.

Stay in the loop – holidays are undoubtedly a time for switching off, but you still want to be kept in the know while you’re away, especially if a viewing could lead to a sale. Ask your agent to drop you a call or email with any news or updates.

Leave out comment cards – Your estate agent will know the majority of your home details, but when it comes to particulars, you’re the best person to speak to. If you expect viewings when you’re on holiday, leave out little notes and comment cards on places and objects of interest. Potential buyers will appreciate the time you’ve taken to do this.
