Today marks the three week point post-knee replacement and this week I have reached a plateau. Frustrating as I expected it to be, but trying to keep busy with lamp creation as my alter ego Distorted Light .

Setup and principle is the same, a near horizontal square dish needing clear view of the sky, and speeds boasting of up to 1Gbps for the top tier.

If you have a Humax recording box and it doesn’t seem to be change channels or bring up menus, the chances are you may have accidentally put the remote control into TV operation.
As shown in the two pictures, if you press either the PVR button or the TV button on the Humax remote they will glow a red or an orange briefly. Depending on which one you press will make the remote control operate the PVR (the Humax box) or the TV.

This should have you up and running again!

Tit Bit Tips

While I am recovering from my successful knee replacement, (first week gone by, recovery on schedule!), I will post a few helpful tips to look out for.

Today’s gem is telling the difference between poor TV AERIAL signal and buffering TV pictures from the WiFi.

Picture 2 above, shows “buffering”; a spinning circle often accompanied by the words” Please Wait” or similar. This is usually because your WiFi router/broadband is too far from your TV, struggling to send the WiFi signal.

Picture 1 shows a TV program “pixelating “, or breaking up. This is due to either low signal strength or poor quality, or a problem with the tuner in your TV or set top box. There are lots of things that cause low signal strength or poor quality on the TV from poorly made connections on cables, a poor wall socket connection, damage aerial cabling, failed Aerial or failed signal booster.

My wife then told me the story of someone she met through work who told her he went for an interview as an engineer after being made redundant in the 80s in Portsmouth. He had a fami on a to support and the interview was in some rooms above a butcher shop. The guy hired him on the spot, asking if he wanted a salary or a stake in the company. He took the salary as he had to support the family. The company became Ericsson Telecom….😆
