Renters’ Rights Act Update: New Rental Property Register
The Government has announced the introduction of a new ‘Register Your Rental Property’ service as part of the second phase of the Renters’ Rights Act.
The register will require landlords of assured and regulated tenancies to register themselves and each rental property, helping to improve transparency and demonstrate compliance with key obligations.
Registration will be introduced regionally from 15 December 2026, starting with the West Midlands. Each region will have a three-month registration period.
Landlords will need to provide property details and evidence of key safety requirements, including:
✓ Gas Safety Certificates
✓ Electrical Installation Condition Reports
✓ Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
A £65 registration fee will apply per property.
