🏔🌊 A little about us and the making of Peaks & Tides Retreat 🌊🏔

A few years ago, while on holiday in Newcastle with our family, we were standing on the balcony of the apartment a few doors away from the one we now own. As we took in the views of the sea, the Mourne Mountains, and the bridge below, our son asked, “Why not here for retirement?”

With that simple question, the seed for Peaks & Tides was planted.

For Liam, it felt like life coming full circle. He grew up just a few miles from Newcastle before spending more than 40 years in New York. Returning home to family felt like the most natural choice.

We also wanted to create a place where our children, and one day their children, could come to, to connect with their family in Ireland.

For me, as a physiotherapist and yoga teacher, Peaks & Tides was a chance to create a space where we could relax, reconnect, and feel restored. A place inspired by the sea and surrounding landscape.

Today, we divide our time between New Jersey and Newcastle, and when we’re not enjoying Peaks & Tides ourselves, we’re delighted to share it with guests from near and far.

Our hope is that when you stay at Peaks & Tides, you experience the same sense of relaxation, reconnection, and restoration that inspired us to create it.

It was the right vibe, the right energy, the right soundtrack for the view and for Peaks and Tides Retreat.

I’ve shared this clip many times since, but with Dolly’s passing, somehow it means just a little bit more today. 🩵

Come on in.....⛰️ 🌊

While the views outside tend to steal the show, we wanted what’s inside to feel just as special; calm, comfortable and somewhere you can just settle in.

Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, plenty of space to gather, quiet corners to curl up in, and little touches that make it feel more like a home than simply somewhere to stay.

And then, of course, there’s the sea just outside the window. 🌊

Autumn stays are now booking and there’s something pretty special about Newcastle in the fall. 🍂
