Cooking the Turkey
“the builders way”
Its 3.30am, I can't sleep so just cause I can.. heres my top tip for cooking the turkey - always looking for time and money saving ideas for my customers :)
So its time to cook the biggest bleedin chicken of the year
You have only one oven,
panic sets in over sticking everything in for feeding the hungry mob
So how do you do it without living in the kitchen for a day and missing the fun ??
This is my way…. Save time, Save energy and meat is less dry
This is my disclaimer…. I won’t take any responsibility for
-a “ruined Christmas”, Or Lost fingers !
Why does it take so long to cook a big bird ? because its BIG of course.. so cut it down !!
Why is the meat dry ? because its stuffed in a baking hot oven for so long
I can’t be arsed to do all this basting the bird every 20 mins
Make sure your worktop is clear, you have a sink with soapy hot water to wash your grubby mitts, a cutting board, a baking tray lined with foil and a decent size sharp knife or cleaver
Method 1) super simple
Grab your Turkey and put it on the cutting board, use the knife or cleaver - slice down the breast then cut the bird in ‘half’. Makes a lovely bone crunching noise as you lever downwards so watch your fingers
Once you get through the ‘top half’ of the bird, just lever it apart.
You then have two smaller chunks to cook, put it on the baking tray, cover in foil, shove in the oven, cooks quicker and you can still carve it if that’s what you want.
Method 2) succulent simple
Grab your Turkey and put it on the cutting board, use the knife – slice/pair off the breasts,
then cut the bird in ‘half’, put it on the baking tray, cover in foil, shove in the oven and cook
Take the breast, slice them into chunks or however you want them. Place them in one of those cooking bags with seasoning if you like. shove in the oven with the rest of the bird and cook Comes out lovely and tender/moist .
