What makes a persons property prosper is the proprietors personality….Try saying that after a few gins….So I consider it my job to understand peoples traits, likes and dislikes. A little like our music taste, clothing and hair it’s an expression or extension of oneself. Some folk love a vibrant busy interior, whilst others prefer a minimalist approach. Well, it’s my job to work around you as a client, understand you and your requirements which is why I went with US interior design as a name, as between US we get the job done. Whatever your interior style requirements, we can achieve it. So whether you’re a modernist, traditionalist, or any other stylist for that matter, looking for a unique and reputable company to work on an interior design project, we’re the right fit for you.

What you can expect from a design presentation by myself. First and foremost is a consultation, where we can gain an understanding of the overall look you’re hoping to achieve. As well as taking necessary measurements for any reconfiguring, opening floor space or extending, that would also include work such as bespoke furniture (wardrobes, kitchens, alcove units) that maybe required to get the absolute best functionality out of your space. I then take the info and build a presentation that outlines all of the work required, floor plans, building plans, inspiration, colours, bespoke furniture design…….you get the picture right. Not only does this cover the aesthetics of your building, it also provides clients with a document that is invaluable to starting any build/redeveloping projects, as it also allows builders and other trades to quote accurately and saves an exceptional amount on architect fees. If you’re starting a redevelopment project, and you feel this could be of assistance to you then please contact me for free, friendly advice and we will hopefully book a consultation in very soon. Between ‘us’ we achieve great things. us interior design

Even on a day off you’ll find me rummaging around on socials for things that pique my interest interiors wise. Constantly saving and following accounts that do, along with making mental notes for any future works in the hope they’ll align. In doing so I stumbled across Dutch designer/illustrator and this stunning stained glass installation. What a way to add some colour into an entrance hallway. I’ve spent a great deal of time working within period properties of late, where unique stained glass would be a superb addition. Who knows, maybe I’ll get to introduce such a thing to some lucky persons property in 2025….🤞

Well that’s my Christmas holidays taken care of. I recently had the unbelievably great news that I’ll be taking hold of the design work for the exceptional who offer top of the range bespoke fitted furniture. I’ve worked alongside Jonny on numerous jobs over the years and still offer hand painted finishing to his products. But this time, heading into 2025 I’ll brushing up on my sketch up skills from a course via enabling me to supply detailed drawings and cutting lists for the manufacturing of kitchens, wardrobes, libraries, alcove units and the like. I’m hoping my keen eye for all things interiors can offer both clients and other joinery companies much more than just bog standard designs. With the potential of providing complete interior design packages along side, this is an amazing opportunity and huge step forward. Watch this space as they say…….exciting times and feeling pretty thankful.

Following on from a short look at Netherlands interiors, this post focuses on the French, primarily Paris. A city that holds a personal connection filled with love and fond memories. I was lucky enough to spend quite a lot of time visiting Paris, mainly wandering and taking in the awe inspiring architecture, design and everyday life. Visiting various homes from multi million pound apartments close to the Eiffel Tower, to smaller living quarters across the city. What struck me with Paris, and the areas of France I’ve travelled, is the element of maintaining its originality. From metros, to cafes, bars, restaurants, flats both grande and petit….the majority have an undeniably classic look, retaining as much of its originality as possible, typically white walls and ceilings, made only different by the choice of furnishings. This provides Paris with their own unique stamp on the interior design world. However, Living quarters are looking like the wind of change there, where dwellers are thinking outside of the box with quirky and ingenious ways to bring extremely small spaces to life with colour and functionality. I absolutely love Paris, from the simple metro tile, to the sense of art nouveau that surrounds and fills you on every street corner, it’s the most inspiring place I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting…..and made even more so as we had our 12 week scan here for our first born as her mother was living there at the time. I don’t miss them journeys back home to a flat above a pub in Darlington!! 😂

Let’s talk built in furniture after just completing this stunning wardrobe for our clients based in Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne. I designed this to be sympathetic with the period of the property with an aim of making them feel like they’ve always been a part of the properties DNA…..personally, I think it’s job done. Assisted with great care and attention by and had painted by yours truly, finished in Cromarty by across all walls and furniture. If you would like any assistance with achieving a certain look, then please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss. From creative concept to creation, between us, we’ve got you covered.

Let’s talk tiles 🙂 an absolutely incredible way to add colour, style, personality, pizazz etc etc….to any wall, floor, ceiling, bar etc etc…..suppose some would say it’s an incredibly versa’tile (apologies 😉) addition to any home or commercial premises. Need I say more! Maybe not, but I shall. We’re blessed with any amount of playful patterns, textures and shapes these days. All of which beg to be used as a statement, a piece of art in their own right in my humble opinion. So when choosing tiles, think about using them as the statement they are and keep the rest of the room cool and calm. Or go nuts if you’re brave 😉 we cover domestic and commercial works where tiles could make or break an interior….contact us for any queries and quotations.

Happy Friday folks. Being a start up business means there’s lots going on in the background with not a great deal to show at the moment. So here’s some of the things that make me tick when it comes to kitchens. It’s evident that kitchens will play a massive part in this journey, as expected, so here’s some examples I’ve taken inspiration from whilst designing a number of refits/layouts. The main one being, using several different finishes, textures and colours taking people away from the usual uniformed look. I’m sure you’ll agree, it works pretty dam well eh!? I’m already looking forward to 2025 where works will be installed from various jobs that are in their planning stages at present. All of which are superb projects I feel honoured to play a part in. Enjoy your weekend 🙂 Dan.
