Random Fact Friday 🌈
One of the first things many people do when they move into a new home is start thinking about decorating. New walls, new colours, and the chance to put your own stamp on the place. 🧑🎨
That got us thinking about colours and rainbows. Most of us learnt at school that there are seven colours in a rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. But originally, things weren’t quite so clear cut.
When Isaac Newton studied light through a prism, he decided to split what we might simply call purple into two colours, indigo and violet. Why? Many historians believe it was because the number seven held special significance for him. So the rainbow we know today became seven colours instead of six.
In fact, if you look closely at the cover of Pink Floyd’s famous Dark Side of the Moon album, you’ll only see the original six colours.
Speaking of decorating, here’s a practical moving tip from us. 💡Tins of paint are best transported in your own car where possible, or taken to your local recycling centre if they’re no longer needed. Paint can leak, spill and cause damage to furniture and boxes, so it’s always worth planning ahead.
A little preparation goes a long way when moving home.
