This week is all about the trades.

On-site today for a quick site update: groundworks setting levels, brickwork climbing, joinery lifting into place, the electrician and plumber threading routes, and access safe on a tidy scaffolding day. Tools change hands, a nod, and the build programme keeps its rhythm. I stood back for a minute just to watch—real construction life, from the site, the bit behind the build where quality by design actually happens. Inside checks this week — and we lingered in the kitchen for a proper kitchen walkthrough.
Mid-morning sun poured through the windows into this sunlit kitchen, sliding across the floor and worktops; you can feel the flow of the home in here. We walked the run from fridge to hob to sink, checked clearances and lighting levels for open-plan living, and stood a moment by the doors to the garden just to take in that interior calm that feels designed to unwind.

It’s the kind of room that feels ready to live in the second you step in — thoughtful details, beautifully finished worktops, and built with care.

From this plot the view runs to big sky and a clean tree line; you catch it from the lounge and again on the first walk to the kettle. Evening light drifts across where the patio will sit, and it already feels like a place you’ll linger—easy outdoor living with calm sightlines from doors to garden.

Some days you can see the home long before all the walls goes up.

Morning check-in, drawings open, lines sprayed—then everyone moves in sync: groundworks set levels and falls, brickies build to the string, scaffolders make it safe. Tools change hands, a quick nod, and the next step clicks into place. I paused for a minute just to watch—this is my favourite bit: the quiet teamwork before the shape appears.

Overnight snow and a blue-hour hush.

I walked in at first light for that first look before any footprints—untouched snow across the brick-weave drive, roofs snow-covered, porch lights soft against the cold. For a minute the whole site felt still; contemporary bungalows and gardens sitting quiet under fresh snow—a true winter morning on site in East Anglia.

On-site today, just a calm site update before the grit goes down and site progress resumes.

First site walk of the year: frost on the brick-weave, breath in the air, programme back open.
We checked levels, signed off scaffold tags, booked deliveries, and set the order of play so Phase Two keeps its rhythm. Lots to do, lots happening — exactly how we like January to feel on site.

Site update — all running smoothly. Same care, same small details, just a new year to keep building calm, comfortable homes.

Ever notice where you naturally slow down at home?
For me, it’s the lounge.

Late-afternoon light across the floor, a chair by the window, doors to the garden cracked open—this is the spot where the day softens. Lamps on low, kettle humming, feet up, and the kind of quiet that makes conversation (or a good book) feel easy.

When we planned this room, we thought about those little rituals: sightlines to the garden, sockets where lamps actually live, warm lighting levels, and a layout that invites you to exhale. The lounge is our favourite place to relax and unwind—and it shows.
