Join a mycology expert for a day-long course to help you with the process of fungi identification.

This workshop was extremely popular when we last ran it and we’re delighted that Dr Tony Leech is returning to Sheringham Park this autumn. The workshop will help you with the process of fungi identification, by taking a structured look at fungi and how to separate them into the main groups of mushrooms and toadstools.

The day will start with an illustrated talk looking at examples of fungi species found in Britain. The group will then set out on a field visit (foray), including a walk of up to 2 miles, to collect and examine specimens from the variety of habitats found at Sheringham Park. Specimens found will be identified during the practical and hands-on afternoon session, using field guides.

The day will conclude with advice on developing your interest further, including the collecting of fungi to eat, and look at the range of literature and online resources available.

Introducing festive late openings at Blickling this Christmas! 📣✨🎄

We wanted to share that, after more than a decade of magical evenings, our Garden of Lights event will not be returning this year. We’re incredibly proud of everything we’ve created together and so grateful to everyone who has supported it over the years.

This year, we're offering something a little different. We'll be opening late on selected evenings between 28 November and 23 December so you can gather together with friends and family to enjoy a festive visit. The front drive will be lined with illuminated Christmas trees, the House will be open after dark for you to discover 'A Woolly Winter Adventure at Blickling Hall', and the Parterre will sparkle with fairy lights, traditional family games and a few baa-rilliant Shaun the Sheep sculptures to spot. The Shop and Stables Café will also be open for festive shopping and seasonal treats.
