With the current heatwave, dry conditions mean fires can spread much more quickly than usual.

Things around your home that might normally seem harmless can become a real fire risk.

Please take a few minutes to check around your home and garden ⬇️

🪵 Keep anything that can burn away from walls, fences and sheds. This includes furniture, mattresses, wood, cardboard and bins.

🚬 Take extra care with ci******es and never dispose of them near anything combustible.

🔥 Be careful with BBQS, particularly disposable ones - never leave unattended.

☀️ Be aware of less obvious risks too. Sunlight magnified through glass or mirrors, and sparks from garden tools can start fires in dry conditions.

Fire services are extremely busy during hot weather, so prevention is especially important.

Please keep yourself, your neighbours and communities safe by sharing this message and checking that anything combustible is safely stored away from your home ❤️
