What a fantastic day at the Southwell Ploughing Match and Show

It was a pleasure to host breakfast for members of the Southwell Agricultural Society and Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society, providing a great opportunity to catch up with friends and contacts from across the local agricultural community.

As the NFU's Midlands land agent panel firm, we were delighted to welcome Paul Tompkins, Deputy President of NFU - National Farmers' Union , to our stand. It was a valuable chance to discuss the issues and opportunities facing the agricultural sector.

On Saturday 12 September, a team of 13 colleagues from Brown&Co's Norwich office successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in support of Alzheimer's Society.

Covering 24 miles and taking on the climbs of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, the team crossed the finish line in an impressive 11 hours and 25 minutes, despite spending the entire day battling rain.

Most importantly, thanks to the generosity of colleagues, clients, friends and family, the team has now raised more than £6,000 and counting for Alzheimer's Society, with donations still coming in.

We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part and grateful to everyone who has supported the challenge through donations and encouragement. A special thank you also goes to Katie Bates and Nicholas Staton, who provided invaluable support throughout the day, helping to keep the team fuelled, organised and motivated between each peak.

Yesterday afternoon, colleagues from across our UK offices gathered at the stunning Burghley Park Cricket Club for our annual Brown&Co East v West fixture, and what an afternoon it was!

After East’s 2025 victory, West arrived determined to reclaim the Wellies Trophy.

East won the toss and posted 166 from their 25 overs, with Rob Taylor top-scoring with 31 from 19 balls. William Gaunt impressed with the ball for West, taking 2–15.

West mounted a valiant chase, with Simon Tindle and Chris Sheldon both retiring on 30 from 26 balls. However, a flurry of wickets shifted the momentum and West finished on 152, falling 14 runs short. East retained the Wellies Trophy for 2026.

Congratulations to Player of the Match Giles Starling, who scored 26 from 12 balls and took 1–7. The Ch*****ne Moment went to Will Gaunt and Paul White for a superb wicket, completed by Paul’s brilliant slip catch.

Thank you to all the spectators, umpires, our scorer Liam, and the marketing team for supporting the fixture, and well done to Bradley Hurn, Chris Sheldon and Rob Taylor for organising a fantastic afternoon.
