In 2023, Clacton was promised £20 million under the government’s Long-Term Plan for Towns. A 10-year regeneration plan. A chance to make daily life in one of the most impoverished constituencies in the country.
The town centre. The seafront. Local jobs. 🚀🚀🚀
A board was created to oversee it. Council leaders. Community reps. And the local MP, Nigel Farage. His ONLY additional formal role locally.
He has not attended a single meeting. 👀
According to The Mirror, he even missed the latest meeting on 30 January and was instead in Tyneside meeting supporters and potential Reform recruits.
So the question is not just where he was, it’s what this tells you about how Reform will govern…
Because his councillors and MPs take their lead from him. They follow the tone set by HQ. They are told, constantly, to focus on the national culture war issues. Identity politics. Immigration. Those big emotive topics that generate headlines and clicks.
What don’t they really care about?
Your road being fixed.
Your high street being revived.
Your park being maintained.
The small, unglamorous things that actually make a difference to daily life.
If the leader does not prioritise turning up to regeneration meetings for his own constituency, why would anyone below him think local delivery matters?
This is bigger than one missed meeting. It is about whether politics is about practical change where you live, or permanent outrage about issues designed to keep you angry.
So again, the question stands.
Is Reform about serving towns? Or just using them?
Put aside boats and borders.

If Reform lose every seat at the next General Election, they’ll definitely form the next government. Sounds legit. 🤝 Judging by their supporters that I interact with - this scenario is totally believable!
