Today two of our team made a start strimming at Bunny lane, the better weather meant they were making good progress. Meanwhile the rest of the team who were avalible today took the opportunity to give GCRN - Rushcliffe Halt a mow now that the grass is finally growing!

Today the team decended on East Leake station to strim the road side approaches to the bridge, helping to keep a pavement clear from vegetation and start the job of clearing the view of the bridge and clearing around the structure.

Today there was a smaller turn out that we ve been used to lately, however we still managed to split into two groups. One group got the mowers out and mowed now that the grass has once again started to grow, meanwhile the rest of the team tackled the remaining embankment above the headshunt and managed to get the entire bank cleared in one session.

Sunday 30th August
Today the team came out in force at GCRN - Rushcliffe Halt to continue strimming the embankments around the station. Along with strimming the edges in the area up above the station ready for mowing next week now that the grass has finally began to grow again after the recent much needed rain. As the rain is coming down as I type this it hopefully will not be long untill the embankments are greening up once again.

Apologise for the lack of a post last week but the team were still hard at work, they made a start strimming down from GCRN - Rushcliffe Halt towards the signal box which they managed to finish off today. Meanwhile today some of the team focused of trimming back on the opposite side of the line to make sure the sidings are accessable for when the wagons are ready to be shifted back up to Ruddington, a chainsaw will be needed in the winter to fully finished the job on the willow tree but there should be just enough clearance for a one off passing if it comes before winter.

Today the team took a walk down the track on the hunt for mileposts that nature has been busy trying to reclaim. These mileposts are on the section of line between Rushcliffe halt and East Leake station that is only accessable by rail or by foot due to the track slew put in by BR during the removal of the second line after closure, the journey on foot combined with the heat for what was a reliatively small job felt like more than enough for the afternoon so after a nice walk back to GCRN - Rushcliffe Halt we called it a day.

Today the team continued chopping back vegetation along the curve at Asher lane to clear sightlines and maintain clearance to the track. Furthering the ongoing lineside clearance work and highlighting the cyclical nature of our tasks. A job well done all, as you can see what a tidy job everyone has done.

Sunday 19th July
Apologies for the lack of posts over the last couple of months, as you can imagine we have all been incredibly busy with recent successful events. Understandably our volunteer team needed a well earned rest!
Today we regrouped and did our first proper bit of vegetation clearing in several months, easing ourselves back into the job. We took on the small task of trimming back overhanging vegetation along the curve leaving Ruddington fields and over the Asher lane crossing, to restore signal sightlines and clearence to prevent scratching the carriages.
