King Charles III's Coronation will be held on Saturday 6th May 2023 at Westminster Abbey. Commencing at 11am, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen Consort will make their way to Westminster Abbey in a ceremonial procession originating from Buckingham Palace, famously referred to as the 'King's Procession'.
After the ceremony, the King and Queen Consort will make their way back to Buckingham Palace for a more lavish processional called 'The Coronation Procession', along with other members of the Royal Family. The day will conclude with the Royal Family stepping out onto the balcony.
On Sunday 7th May 2023, the BBC will broadcast a special Coronation Concert from Windsor Castle, uniting musical luminaries from all around the world to mark the momentous occasion. The event will be open to members of the public and charities that have been supported by the Monarch.
The concert will include a Lighting up the Nation section, wherein the UK joins forces to celebrate as prominent places around the nation are illuminated with projections, lasers, drones and other lights.
The Coronation Big Lunch is set to happen on the same day. Inviting neighbours and communities throughout the country, they are urged to come together to share food and fun in local street parties and garden gatherings.
On Monday, 8th May 2023, The Together Coalition and 25 of the UK's most prominent charities are teaming up to present The Big Help Out, an extra bank holiday devoted to highlighting the incredible effect of volunteering in our communities. Get involved by offering assistance to a nearby organization or by devoting time to a food bank - make a difference in your neighbourhood.
