📣 For our final week of looking at our tenants' work, we're celebrating Children in Scotland, who are based at our Edinburgh offices!

Giving all children in Scotland an equal chance to flourish is at the heart of what they do. By bringing together a network of people working with and for children, alongside children and young people themselves, they create solutions, provide support and develop positive change across all areas affecting children in Scotland.

They do this by gathering evidence, applying and sharing their learning, while always working to uphold children’s rights. Their range of knowledge and expertise means they can provide trusted support on issues as diverse as the people we work with and the varied lives of children and families in Scotland.

📣For Week 8 of looking at our tenants' work, we're drawing attention to Housing Justice's Refugee Lodgings Campaign.

Their campaign was set up earlier this year in response to the crisis of growing numbers of newly granted refugees being forced into homelessness as they are evicted from Home Office accommodation.

The Refugee Lodgings Project in London enables resident landlords to rent out their spare room to a refugee lodger for six months while they re-build their lives and find a more permanent home. Housing Justice supports both the lodger and the resident landlord, who is expected to charge rent in line with the Local Housing Allowance.

📣 For Week 7 of our 10 Weeks of Impact campaign,

We're celebrating our tenants Demand Logic being shortlisted in the 'Excellence in Sustainability - Product' category for this year’s London Construction Awards! This award category celebrates innovative and outstanding products that benefit both the industry and the planet.

Demand Logic has earned recognition for their software tool, which analyses real-time operational data to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, validate property performance, maintain design parameters, and address predictive maintenance needs.

📣For Week 6 of 10 weeks of looking at our tenants' work,

We're looking at our Oxford-based tenant Migrant Help who protect survivors of displacement and exploitation.

This year they were celebrating their 60th anniversary, and earlier on in the year held an Art Exhibition at The Old Music Hall. Alongside works donated for sale, were 16 moving contributions from survivors of modern slavery.

One of the most poignant descriptions for a work read:

“The photographs are an artistic representation of exploitative situations I repeatedly found myself in while living as an undocumented immigrant in London. Externalising in this way the drudge, dependency, and confinement I experienced, helps me create a distance to these events and to some degree neutralises the pain associated with them.”

We loved seeing all the art works and look forward to hosting future art exhibitions from Migrant Help ❤️

📣This is Week 5 of 10 Weeks of Impact!

And we're looking at Strides Community Housing Association, based at The Foundry, which works to target gaps in our support systems around housing, mental health, and rehabilitation.

As an organisation they provide affordable housing for keyworkers, support men leaving prison, offer temporary housing to those experiencing homelessness, and provide affordable long term counselling to those on low incomes.

Their truly impressive range of programmes enable people to take the strides forward that they need to a healthy and secure life.

📣 And it's week 4...

This week we're looking at the Marmalade Trust's
campaign which has been running since 2017.

This campaign raises awareness of loneliness and empowers everyone to make connections across the UK and worldwide.

Loneliness Awareness Week 2024 was the biggest and furthest reaching week yet. The theme, Random Acts of Connection, encouraged people to organise connection building activities, of which over 3,000 took place.

Marmalade Trust does all kinds of work to counter loneliness all year round, as well as provide resources and support through their website - www.maramaladetrust.org.

📣This is Week 3 of 10 Weeks of Impact!

And we're looking at Earthsight's campaign 'Fashion Crimes', which has exposed the connection between fast fashion giants in the West and destruction of the Cerrado biome in Brazil.

Their year long investigation has found that cotton used by Zara and H&M, which is certified as ethical by the world's largest cotton certification scheme 'Better Cotton', is actually linked to land grabbing, human rights violations, illegal deforestation and corruption by two large agribusinesses in Brazil.

They argue that the failure of the fashion sector to monitor and ensure legality in its cotton supply chains, means that governments in wealthy consumer markets must regulate them.
