A legal clash between a council and landowners continues over Travellers occupying a site at a rural location near Reading.

All eyes on the situation and high court injunction at Aldermaston whilst similar unauthorised developments are happening around our homes in Pangbourne.

Travellers have purchased a pocket of land within a private housing estate, located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The land is designated for agricultural use only, yet heavy machinery has been brought onto the site without permission to clear the field and install hardstanding. Floodlighting, fencing, and caravans were added, with works carried out rapidly and, at times, through the night. These developments have appeared with little or no warning. Local residents report feeling intimidated, with some stating they have been harassed and contacted at all hours of the day and night. A council stop notice has since been issued.
We want to keep local residents informed, as a very similar situation has recently arisen in Aldermaston, which is due in court on Monday 12 January. These situations can emerge suddenly, it could be on your doorstep next week. It is vital that communities stay informed, united, and vigilant to help deter illegal development and protect our homes & areas of outstanding natural beauty.
