Great news for Parkend station - explaining the story of the trains and trams that ran past Edith's Cottage.

A PROJECT to tell the story of Parkend’s tramroad and industrial history has received a substantial grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

If you’re planning on visiting Beechenhurst this Sunday (22 March), here’s a quick heads-up about the Forest of Dean Spring Half Marathon taking place that morning 👇

To help keep runners safe, a few local road closures will be in place:

🚧 Speech House to New Fancy: closed from 8:30am to 10:30am
🚧 Speech House to Cannop Crossroads: closed from 10:15am to 10:45am

During this time, access to Beechenhurst will be available from the Speech House direction only.

⏱️ Please note: Re‑opening times may vary – roads will reopen once the last runner has crossed near Beechenhurst, usually around 10:45am, so thank you for your patience.
