Looking for a fun activity to do today with the family before the school holidays end?

Come and join us at The Cornish Oven, Scorrier, from 10am to 2pm today for a special charity day in support of YMCA Cornwall.

• Decorate gingerbread
• Meet the YMCA Cornwall team and residents
• Learn about our work supporting young people at risk of homelessness
• Make a donation to help change young lives

We'll be there with our banners, flags and collection tins, and we'd love to say hello.

We're delighted to be joining The Cornish Oven for a special charity day in support of YMCA Cornwall.

A huge congratulations to the Sedel-Collings Foundation on reaching £1 million in grants across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Over the past two years, their support of more than £18,000 has helped YMCA Cornwall provide vital support to young people at risk of homelessness.

Thank you to the Foundation, its trustees and Cornwall Community Foundation for helping us help young people in need across Cornwall.

Last week, our young residents enjoyed an unforgettable trip out on the water with Mermaid Pleasure Trips from Penzance Harbour.

They got up close to some of Cornwall's incredible marine life, spotting dolphins riding alongside the boat and seals relaxing in the bay.

Experiences like these give young people the chance to build confidence, create positive memories and enjoy everything Cornwall has to offer.

We welcome the Prime Minister's determination to ensure nobody is left sleeping on our streets this winter.

As Denise Hatton, Chief Executive of YMCA England & Wales, said:
"Behind every person experiencing homelessness is an individual who deserves dignity, security and the opportunity to rebuild their life."

The commitment to help people off the streets by Christmas is an important step. But tackling rough sleeping must be the beginning, not the end. The housing crisis, means many young people face unstable housing, unaffordable rents and a shortage of affordable homes.

Here in Cornwall, there are just 187 units of supported accommodation across the county. YMCA Cornwall provides 51 of those, soon to be 54, giving young people not just a safe place to live, but the support they need to become independent and build a future.

Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home.

We're delighted that Heyl Towans and Tides WI has chosen YMCA Cornwall as its Charity of the Year!

Yesterday, members visited us for a wonderful afternoon with a presentation from our team followed by lots of discussions over a Cornish cream tea.

We had the opportunity to share the story of YMCA Cornwall, including our history, recent successes, the impact of our work across Cornwall, and our exciting plans for the future.

A huge thank you to everyone at Heyl Towans and Tides WI for their warm welcome, support, and enthusiasm. We are incredibly grateful to have been selected as your Charity of the Year and look forward to working together over the coming months to make a positive difference for our young people and communities.
