On May 24th, our family’s world changed forever when Kimberley lost her brave four-year battle with Stage 4 terminal cancer at just 39 years old. She leaves behind seven beautiful children who are navigating a grief no child should ever have to face.
Four years ago, when Kimberley received her diagnosis, my son Christian made a choice that defines exactly who he is as a father and a person. Even though they were no longer partners, they shared four young children together, and Kimberley had three older children. Driven by absolute love and a determination to keep all seven brothers and sisters together in a stable, loving environment during the hardest chapters of their lives, Christian stepped away from his own life and moved back in. He became the full-time caregiver for Kimberley and all seven kids.
For four years, Christian gave everything he had to ensure Kimberley was cared for and the children felt safe. Following Kim's passing, another massive shift occurred for this family: as of May 25th, Kim's three older children have moved to live full-time with their father.
While the older siblings are adjusting to their new home, Christian is now picking up the pieces with his own four children, who range from just 6 to 9 years old. These little ones have spent a huge portion of their lives watching their mum be very ill, and they need a safe, stable haven now more than ever. Christian is determined to give them that secure future, but the physical reality of the home they are left with is an overwhelming mountain to climb.
Due to the heavy toll of terminal illness and hoarding struggles over the last several years, the house is currently unlivable and unsafe for four young, growing children. Christian is quite literally starting from absolute scratch to build a clean, bright, and comforting environment where his kids can just be kids again and begin to heal.
We are desperately reaching out to our community, friends, and anyone moved by this family's story to help us raise funds for the massive task ahead. Every single penny raised will go directly toward:
• Clearing & Repairing the Property: Professional waste removal to empty a severely hoarded house, full plastering and re-painting of the walls, laying fresh carpets and flooring, and clearing a heavily overgrown garden of rubbish so the children can finally have a safe, clean, and fresh place to live and play outside.
• Bedroom Furniture: Clean, safe beds, mattresses, wardrobes, and drawers so his four young children have a proper, comforting place to sleep and call their own.
• Essential Home Appliances: Re-equipping the kitchen with a functioning cooker, washing machine, tumble dryer, and freezer to support a busy household of young kids.
• A Living Space & A Special Memory: A family sofa and basic household items to give them a comfortable place to sit together. If there are any funds left over once the house is safe and furnished, we would love to use them to take the children on their very first family holiday—a chance for Christian and his little ones to smile, breathe, and bond after years of immense hardship.
Christian has spent the last four years putting his entire life on hold to care for others. Now, he needs a village to wrap its arms around him and his four beautiful children.
