What started as a leak coming through a bedroom window quickly turned into something much bigger.

After being contacted by the homeowner, we attended to investigate the issue and brought in a soffit and fascia specialist to help identify the source of the leak. It was soon discovered that damaged roofing felt beneath the solar panels was allowing water into the property, with nesting pigeons contributing to the problem.

To get everything resolved properly, Ambleside coordinated:
• Investigation works
• Scaffolding access
• Solar panel removal with the original installers
• Installation of bird protection to prevent future issues

Most importantly, the homeowner didn’t have to juggle multiple contractors or try to manage the process themselves. We handled everything from start to finish to make an incredibly stressful situation far easier.

The issue is now fully resolved and the customer can finally relax again.

⚡ What is an EICR, and do you need one?

An EICR is a formal inspection of your electrical system to ensure everything is safe, compliant, and functioning as it should.

What happens during an EICR?
We carry out a full inspection and testing of your installation, checking things like:
✅ Wiring condition
✅ Earthing and bonding
✅ Consumer unit safety
✅ Circuit performance
✅ Any signs of wear, damage, or risk

You’ll then receive a report outlining:
✅ Any issues found
✅ Their severity (coded for urgency)
✅ Recommended actions

When do you need one?
👉 Homeowners
Recommended every 10 years (or when buying/selling)
👉 Landlords
Legally required every 5 years (or change of tenancy)
👉 Commercial properties
Typically every 5 years, but often more frequently depending on usage and risk level

Domestic vs Commercial: what’s the difference?
Domestic EICRs tend to be simpler, focusing on general household safety
Commercial EICRs are more detailed, often covering larger systems, higher loads, and stricter compliance requirements
In both cases, the goal is the same:
