It was such a joy to work on this project. A modernist gem that had been slightly neglected, I worked with the clients to sympathetically update the property. The approach to the house is wonderful, although it didn’t prepare me for this extraordinary staircase which greets you as you enter.

We restored original elements, brought in new finishes to match the originals, designed a kitchen and bathrooms that were suitable for modern living, and selected modernist furniture that felt right at home against the mid-century backdrop.

Everything about the project was bringing in the new, yet always respecting and in keeping with the feel of the original architecture.

And now you can buy this house! The Modern House are selling this beautiful design-led home, and current pictures of the property are on their website listing along with the latest details.

[These previous project photos are by Adrian Lyon - they’re not from The Modern House and they don’t show the property as it is today.]

I’m delighted to be included in the Summer Gardens Special this month.

In a feature by exploring designers' own gardens, I talk about architectural changes, borrowed views, and how I created a relationship between my home, its garden, and the wider setting of where I live.

Six more designers share the secrets of their own spaces, and as our gardens are starting to show signs of Spring, this feature and the whole issue are a great read.
