Mould in your property is mainly caused by the high humidity levels in the home. And it’s a lot easier to fix than you might think. Here are some interesting stats that show you the levels of moisture being created by everyday household activities;

two people at home for 16 hours - 3 pints of water;

one bath or shower - 2 pints of water;

drying clothes indoors - 9 pints of water;

cooking or using the kettle - 6 pints of water;

washing dishes - 2 pints of water; and

bottled gas heater (8 hours use) – 4 pints of water.

After identifying an extreme case of rising damp, the only option was to tank. Removing the plaster back to the original brick and treated with a specialist salt solution and new DPC installed, we then membrane and re-plaster. This could have been avoided if caught sooner. Although very effective, tanking should be a last resort. Contact me today for your survey if you have any mould, wet spots, blown plaster.
