1 Have a Plan π
Whether youβre ambitiously building a property from scratch or simply looking to add a modest extension, creating a watertight brief and a plan of action suited to that brief will help you achieve effective ex*****on, on budget and with limited unforeseen circumstances.
2 Put Money Into The Building Fabric π°
We often spend a lot of time worrying about the aesthetics of our property β such as kitchen or bathroom styles β and sometimes even invest heavily in them because theyβre the most visible. However, our advice would be to invest more in the bones of the building, such as the structure, insulation, roofing and glazing. Unlike fitting a new kitchen or bathroom, the bones of the building can be very tricky to replace or repair and youβre unlikely to replace them every 6-10 years.
3 Hire The Right People π·ββοΈ
Whether youβre in need of a project manager, an architect or a supplier, working with businesses and people that understand your needs and are prepared to give you all the support you need to execute your plan is crucial. Our Director and Principal Designer, Lloyd is personally involved in each and every commission. We are small enough that every project matters, but large enough to execute the desires and needs of your project.
4 Enjoy The Process π€©
Lastly, itβs important to enjoy yourself. Itβs all too easy to put immense pressure on yourself or others when completing renovations β not many people like living on a building site. However, itβs important to remember that the work you do on your home is a means to create a better place to live, so take the time to make intelligent decisions and enjoy the process.
