Moving House with Pets? 🐾
Here’s How to Make Moving Day Easier
Moving house can be a busy and unfamiliar experience for our four-legged family members too. With doors open, furniture disappearing and lots of new faces around, a little planning can make a big difference.
🐶 Arrange a quiet place for the day – If possible, ask a friend, family member or pet sitter to look after them while the removal is taking place. If they’re staying with you, keep them safely in a quiet room away from the main activity.
📦 Pack a pet essentials bag – Keep food, bowls, medication, leads, bedding, litter trays and a favourite toy somewhere easy to reach. You don’t want these disappearing into the back of the removal vehicle!
🚪 Keep them safe and secure – Removal day means doors and gates are constantly being opened. Make sure pets are secure and everyone involved in the move knows where they are.
🏡 Help them settle gradually – At your new home, start them off in one quiet room with familiar bedding, toys and smells. Once things have calmed down, let them explore their new surroundings at their own pace.
📍 Don’t forget the admin – Once you’ve moved, update microchip details, ID tags, vets and any pet insurance information with your new address.
A little preparation can make moving day safer and less stressful for everyone — including the smallest members of the family. 🐾
