What we learned from our optimistic project to create a luxury self catering cottage retreat:

1. Find good builders. Melvin Construction Cornwall are ace.

2. Don’t pretend you know what you’re doing. Ignorance and arrogance are not good bedfellows. Hold your hands in the air and people will help.

3. Support local. Shout about everyone that does a good job as they will become your friends.

Think we did a pretty good job? Come and see!

A week that was memorable for sooo many reasons!
Starting with an early morning swim at Grebe.

Then there was the eclipse - one of our sons was home with his mates, cottage guests were old friends and local friends too. A fabulous night!

Swipe for reality.

Yes we love a pretty picture, yes it is beautiful here. But the best holidays are messy, family affairs with silly games and belly laughs. Making memories not curating perfection.

Here we have 3 cottages with plenty of communal space - from the courtyard to the Piggery, the Paddock to the Glasshouse. Perfect for hanging out together or getting away from each other!

Many thanks to The Fullers for inviting us over for an evening of silly games!

The whole point of a small wedding is to do it your way. If you want full couture… do it! If you want to pick something up on Vinted then that’s great. Buy something cheap online because you’re only going to wear it once? That’s great too!

Do you want long sleeves? Need to be able to paddle at the beach or climb a gate?

I’m not into bridal trends I’m afraid because the most important thing is you - you have to feel good on your wedding day, and be yourself!

So you’re a parent but you still want to do the cool stuff and not spend your holiday entertaining your kids at a soft play centre? Here at our luxury holiday cottages we have lots of bright ideas for entertaining the kids without compromising your own holiday.

Save for your next family holiday in Cornwall!

Verdant Brewing Taproom in Penryn for the best local beers in a supercool taproom but with the best pizza for the kids.

The Food Barn - Tregew CIC Flushing - Wednesday nights are street food nights. All the best of the local foodie scene with plenty for kids to eat and do too!

Kayak down Daphne du Maurier’s Frenchman’s Creek with Koru Kayaking - a great day out with kids whilst immersing yourself in local literature!

What kid doesn’t love building a fire? Take a bucket of our firewood to practise your fire making skills and watch the sunset. Or even one of the beach bbqs in your cottage. We recommend Porthtowan or Grebe beaches in particular. Remember to clear up after yourself and leave no trace.

Nancarrow Farm for excellent feasts on a farm

If the kids wake you up early, make the most of your day and head to Blü Paddle // Falmouth for a sunrise paddle and dip
