The Yorkshire Housekeeper

The Yorkshire Housekeeper Hi, I’m Jo – The Yorkshire Housekeeper. Friendly, discreet, and here to make your space shine Why am I here? The answer is simple I love cleaning!

With 13 years in the British Army and experience managing a luxury housekeeping team, I bring discipline, detail, and reliability to every home. I realised I enjoyed cleaning whilst serving in the Army when very high standards were expected, especially through training. Fast forward to having left the army and being a full time mum living in a married quarter and successfully completing several ma

rch outs (end of tenancy cleans). Several years ago, I took on some cleaning clients via an agency, I only wanted a couple because my children were still small and just wanted to earn some extra pennies whilst they were in little leg school. I really enjoyed the time out and could see what an impact I was able to make on someone else's life. Cleaning really took a load off. After being recommended to several potential clients via my clients, I realised that, I must be all right at it :)
Had we stayed put, I think I would have allowed my client list to grow naturally, but we moved again. Fast forward to now: I have been managing the housekeeping and its team at a 5 star Wedding Event/Holiday let business here in North Yorkshire. Managing more than 10 holiday cottages, shepherd huts, a boat house and 12 bedroom B&B and two large event barns. I've absolutely loved it and really enjoyed working with my team. The leisure industry is hard work and a roller coaster with workings days changing from week to week. This is what has brought me to starting my own cleaning business, wanting a little more balance in my life and time to enjoy time with my two teens before they fly the nest. Also, I understand how hard it is to juggle everything, work/life/kids/home so why not let me help? I am happy to take on regular home cleans, one offs, end of tenancy, I would also like to offer holiday let cleaning service. With my experience, I understand the need for perfection when attending and preparing holiday accommodation. Please get in touch via [email protected]

Taking on regular clients from Mid August.

TYP Child No.1 has been working on their final art project…

I haven’t seen the kitchen table in weeks 😂

I’m looking forward to sitting down for dinner, but mostly I’m curious to find out what’s hiding underneath the mysterious green veil in the kitchen 👀

A little reminder that even in a house run by a housekeeper, life happens, projects take over and mess is sometimes part of the process 🤍

So here’s the thing…

I spend my days helping clients keep their homes feeling calm, clean and manageable. I’m incredibly grateful to be so busy, but it does mean my own home sometimes gets the bare minimum!

The vacuum gets pushed around, the sides get wiped, but after a few weeks the dust, dog hair, cobwebs and all those little detail jobs start to build up.

So once a month, I give my own home a full reset.

Not a deep clean. Not a quick tidy.

A proper reset where I tackle all those jobs that take time, effort and a bit of elbow grease.

That’s exactly why I introduced my Reset Cleans.

Perfect for homes that are generally maintained but need a helping hand to get everything back to feeling fresh, calm and under control again.

🤍 I’m now reopening my waiting list for monthly Reset Cleans.

With someone soon joining my team, I expect to restructure my diary later this year and create a small number of new spaces.

If you’d like to be added to the waiting list, feel free to get in touch xx

Where is my head whilst working…

People often ask what I'm listening to - they can see that I'm in a world of my own 😂

Today it’s been a Jack Reacher audiobook - have so got into these📚

It could just as easily be 80's/90s dance music turned up far too loud 🎶😆

Long days are defo powered by a mixture of good stories, good music and maybe the odd podcast!

What are you listening to at the moment?

🧽 Housekeeping Tip of the Week

If keeping on top of your home feels overwhelming, focus on the areas you use every day rather than trying to clean the whole house at once.

A reset of the:
✔ kitchen worktops
✔ sink
✔ dining table
✔ bathroom sink

can make a home feel calmer in just 15 minutes.

Small wins count. A home doesn’t need to be perfect to feel manageable 🤍

What’s the one job you always put off?

Still here ………

It’s been a little quiet on here, but behind the scenes I’ve been busy doing what I love — helping keep homes clean, calm and organised ✨

Running a small business sounds great until you’re the one doing everything.

Emails, bookings, invoices, chasing things, updating systems, keeping track of who’s paid and who hasn’t. It all adds up, and it usually ends up being done late at night or squeezed in between everything else.

That’s where a virtual assistant fits in.

It’s not vague support. It’s the day-to-day tasks being handled consistently, so things stop piling up.

For example, I might:
– manage your inbox so you’re not digging through emails every morning
– keep your diary organised so you’re not double booked or constantly rearranging
– handle client onboarding so new enquiries don’t go cold
– send invoices and follow up payments so cash flow stays steady
– organise your files and systems so everything is where you expect it to be
– keep track of ongoing jobs so you always know what’s happening and what’s next

It’s the operational side of your business, kept steady and organised, so things run as they should.

Most business owners don’t need more ideas.
They need time and structure.

Even a few hours a week can make a noticeable difference. Less backlog, fewer loose ends, and more space to focus on the work that actually grows the business.

If you’re finding everything is getting pushed to later, that’s usually the point where this kind of support starts to make sense.

If you want to chat about how that could look for you, just send me a message.
