🏰 A CASTLE, THE RIVER WYE & 6 MILES OF BEAUTIFUL COUNTRYSIDE…

Now this is our kind of walk.

Starting beneath the impressive Goodrich Castle, this 6.3-mile circular climbs into the Wye Valley before winding through woodland and eventually joining the River Wye for a long, beautiful riverside walk back.

🥾 6.3 miles / 10.1 km
⏱️ Allow 3½–4½ hours
📍 Starts & finishes: Goodrich Castle car park, HR9 6HY
🏰 Bonus: Leave enough time to explore the castle afterwards — or finish with something to eat in the village.

It’s one of those walks that feels like a proper day out rather than simply a hike.

We’ve mapped the full circular route, including the walking line and stages, so you can see exactly where you’re going.

👇 Full route & interactive walking map in the comments.

Would you do this one? SAVE it for a Wye Valley day out. ❤️

💜 | We asked our followers to tell us why people should pay a visit to our beautiful town, Ross-on-Wye.

We’ll be sharing some of your wonderful responses and celebrating the places, people and little things that make Ross so special.

We hope these posts might inspire someone who has never visited our town to come and discover it for themselves, or perhaps encourage someone who hasn’t been here for a while to return and see what’s waiting to be rediscovered.

From its historic charm and independent businesses to its beautiful countryside, stunning views and wonderful community, there’s something rather special about our little corner of Herefordshire.

Today’s reason you should visit Ross-on-Wye is:

“Ross-on-Wye is a hidden gem, filled with nostalgic charm and beautiful scenery that makes it an ideal destination for those looking to experience traditional English countryside.”

And we couldn’t agree more. 🌳💜

Why not come and discover Ross for yourselves?

It's been lovely to see our new lunchtime Light Bites menu proving so popular in its first week!

This is our chicken thigh & chorizo salad, with heritage tomatoes, olives, mixed leaves and vinaigrette. Perfect for when you fancy something a little lighter.

Maybe with a cheeky glass of Sauvignon Blanc too 👀🍷

The countdown is on! 🥂

We've been working incredibly hard over the last week to get everything ready for our reopening on Saturday, and it's starting to feel very real.

Here's Lee pouring the very first glasses of w**e from behind the bar! 🍷

There are still a few finishing touches to complete over the next few days, but we can't wait to welcome everyone through the doors this weekend.

Let us know if you're planning on joining us on over the weekend - we're looking forward to seeing some familiar (and new!) faces!
