ROTARY CHARITY GOLF DAY: Crowborough’s new Rotary Club, which was launched recently by Graham Bucksey, Consultant here at Scribe Property Management and Stephen Tester from Tester & Jones Funeral Services, is organising a charity golf day on Wednesday 27 October.

The event is being held at Crowborough Beacon Golf Club and will be raising money for Wealden Dementia Forum, which has the goal of making the towns and villages of Wealden dementia friendly and supporting people with dementia, including their carers and families.

Plans for the Forum in Crowborough include launching a new community café, to be held once a month at the Oasis Community Church.

Teams are being invited to sign-up for the four-ball event, which features a shot-gun start and also includes a nearest the pin contest and a putting competition. The day will conclude with a dinner in the club house, where there will be a raffle for the charity. Zoe Sorrell and Debbie Peters, representatives from Wealden Dementia Forum, have been invited to attend the dinner to present the prizes.

The cost for entering a team is £280, while there is an option of just attending the meal in the evening for £25 a head.

MIGHTY HIKE: While we enjoy the sunshine this weekend, Graham Bucksey from our team will be spending his Saturday taking part in the ‘Thames Path Mighty Hike’ to raise money for the charity Macmillan Cancer Support. This is a half marathon distance (just over 13 miles) along the Thames from Windsor to Cookham.

Macmillan Cancer Support was founded in 1911 by Douglas Macmillan and has grown to be the UK’s leading source of cancer support, helping more and more people living with cancer. It does ‘whatever it takes to support people with cancer, emotionally, physically, financially’.

“Macmillan Cancer Support is a fantastic charity and I’m delighted to have already raised nearly £800,” says Graham. “However, it would be great to push that figure up a bit more and would certainly help me on my way along the Thames on Saturday."

A NEW ROTARY CLUB FOR CROWBOROUGH: Graham Bucksey, Consultant here at Scribe Property Management, has joined forces with Stephen Tester, co-founder of Tester & Jones Funeral Services to bring a brand new Rotary Club to Crowborough.

“Stephen and I were members of the previous Rotary Club in Crowborough, which sadly closed a little while ago,” Graham explains. “We got chatting and realised we both missed being Rotary members so, with the support of the regional team at Rotary, we have launched a new Club for the town.”

He continues: “In addition to the social aspect of the Club, we are focused on how this new Rotary will support, assist and benefit the Crowborough community. This is such a wonderful town and we hope to celebrate and support its residents. We have already held some meetings and have recruited quite a few members, including my colleague Kay Prescott from Scribe.”
