We're recruiting 2x AST Housing Support Workers to join our Hull Team!

📍 Based in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire
🕘 Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
📄 2 permanent, full-time roles

You'll manage a caseload of tenants across Hull, providing practical and emotional support to help residents sustain their tenancies and build skills for independent living. Day-to-day you'll be:

☑️ Delivering person-centred housing support and key working
☑️ Developing and reviewing support plans and risk assessments
☑️ Supporting tenants with budgeting, benefits and household responsibilities
☑️ Helping residents understand and meet their tenancy obligations
☑️ Monitoring tenancy sustainment, rent payments and property standards
☑️ Liaising with probation, local authorities and other support services

Benefits include:
⭐ 28 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 33 with service

Our Housing Support Workers help residents to:

🟠 Understand their tenancy rights and responsibilities
🟠 Manage their money, bills, rent and personal budgets
🟠 Maximise their income and access the right benefits
🟠 Look after their home and manage energy use
🟠 Resolve disputes and address tenancy concerns
🟠 Build positive relationships with neighbours and local services
🟠 Take responsibility for their goals and celebrate their progress

What does it take to be a Housing Support Worker at Target Housing?

Marshall supports clients through every stage of their tenancy- from moving in to developing the skills needed to sustain their home and live more independently.

For Adam, this has included support to access the right benefits, manage his money, bills and rent, look after his home, manage energy use and build positive relationships with neighbours and local services.

Through structured, person-centred support visits, setting realistic goals and timeframes, Marshall supports Adam manage his tenancy whilst building the confidence and skills he will need for future independent living.

Housing support is not about doing everything for someone - it’s about promoting independence and equipping people with the necessary skills to fulfil their potential.

A new chapter for AW 🏡

We’re delighted to share the success story of AW, a former Elliott Court tenant who has now secured his own tenancy with RMBC in a bungalow that better meets his needs.

Before coming to Elliott Court, AW had experienced many years without safe or settled accommodation and was referred to Target Housing following health-related challenges. During his time with us, AW engaged consistently with weekly support sessions and worked closely with his support worker to build the skills and confidence needed for independent living.

Together, they focused on budgeting, home safety, tenancy management, paying bills, attending health and wellbeing appointments, and accessing local community support.

Since moving into his new home, AW has independently budgeted to furnish his property and has purchased a mobility scooter, helping him get out and about in the community. He has also built positive relationships with his neighbours and is continuing to grow in confidence and independence.

AW’s journey is a fantastic example of what tailored, person-centred housing support can achieve - helping people move from homelessness and instability towards safety, independence and a home of their own.

Here's how Target Housing supported Adam to build the skills and confidence to sustain his tenancy and live more independently.

When Adam first came to Target Housing, he was struggling to manage day-to-day - behind on paperwork, unsure how to budget, and at risk of losing the stability of a home altogether.

With the right support, that's changed completely.

His Housing Support Worker, Marshall, didn't step in to do things for Adam - he worked alongside him, helping him get to grips with tenancy paperwork, understand his tenancy responsibilities, signposting to other specialist agencies, maximising income and to build a routine that kept his home running smoothly. Food bank support eased the financial pressure along the way, giving Adam room to focus on the bigger picture.

With a stable tenancy behind him, Adam has been able to look to the future - exploring employment options and taking on more of the practical side of managing his own home with growing confidence.

"It feels like he actually wants to help," Adam says - support that's never felt like a box-ticking exercise, but a genuine investment in his ability to stand on his own two feet.

Target Housing makes a splash at New Avenues Hull's Bridlington Beach Day 🏖️🌊

We recently headed to the coast for New Avenues Hull Service's annual Bridlington Beach Day, bringing support workers and tenants together for a fun day out by the sea.

The group enjoyed a boat trip, shell collecting, and time in the amusements, exploring both North and South Beach along with lunch and group games together. Support workers were on hand throughout, encouraging tenants to make their own choices and join in at their own pace.

Days like this help build confidence, social skills, and independence, while offering tenants the chance to try new experiences and strengthen relationships in a relaxed, inclusive setting.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part - exactly the kind of day that helps us go beyond accommodation, supporting tenants to connect, grow, and thrive.

Target Housing is growing our South Yorkshire team - and we're hiring 3x Housing Support Workers to help residents build stable, independent futures.

What's on offer:

🕘 Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm (39 hrs/week)
📍 Rotherham-based, working across Barnsley, Doncaster & Rotherham
✅ 2 permanent posts
✅ 1 six-month temporary post (possible extension)

The role: you'll be a keyworker for a caseload of residents - helping them manage tenancies, budgets, benefits and everyday life challenges, using a trauma-informed approach that puts people first.
