Rogue Theatre do fabulous shows in the woods at Tehidy, near Portreath. A mix of song, dance, physical theatre and good old fashioned (and humourous!) storytelling, their shows are a real treat for young and old…
If your trip to Whitegate Cottage coincides with a show, especially if you are visiting with children, I would recommend booking yourself tickets! I especially love the Christmas shows where you step through a gate to find Old Man Winter weaving fabulous festive tales - magical!

It’s British Flower week this week- here are some snaps of some of the blooms I’ve grown in my field 50 yards down the road from Whitegate Cottage for my guests. I am never happier than when pottering in the field or potting things up in my polytunnel…Also hoping for a bumper tomato and cucumber harvest this year!

Flowers home-grown in my field a few yards down the road, and a cream tea ready for today’s guests, including Rodda’s clotted cream, Boddington’s jam and strawberries from the village fruit and veg shop, scones from (award-winning) St Agnes bakery and Buttermilk fudge. Yum!

I absolutely love the Mexican fleabane (or Erigeron Karvinskianos if you want to get technical) that self seeds in any nook and cranny in Cornwall…at Whitegate it’s all along the road in front of the wall- so pretty!

May bank holiday weekend is Bolster’s biggest celebration in St Agnes, although he does come out for Carnival and turning on the Christmas lights too!
Many years ago I made his original Celtic knotwork badge, but I imagine his current one is a bit newer as that was over 30 years ago…
Things like this are one part of what makes St Agnes so special.
