We bought the cottage in the summer of 2012 and began the long process of renovation. We have re-wired, re-plumbed and re-decorated. We decided to call it Honest Cottage as it was how the estate agent described it when we first looked around and it stuck! The renovation process has been exciting and we uncovered some beautiful old beams hidden in the ceiling, one of which we believe to be an old s
hips mast (it is common to find these used in houses in St. Ives). It is cosy and has a lovely vibe, most of all it makes us smile. I am passionate about design and detail and I have made it my mission to use as many interesting and unique pieces in the cottage. I have sourced these from amazingly talented furniture makers, artists and designers, many of whom are local to Cornwall. Honest Cottage honours the words of William Morris:
“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”
