As far as secluded, secret beaches go, Soar Mill Cove has got to be our favourite. Walk from the house or park at Bolberry Down and start your walk from there. You will be rewarded with a spectacular, peaceful and unspoilt beach.

Perfect for a day on the beach. Bring your own picnic (there are no facilities) and enjoy the sandy beach, sheltered swimming, caves and rocks to explore.

Soar Mill Cove is dog-friendly year round and is also a perfect stop off on your way to Salcombe along the coastal footpath.

With these soaring temperatures this is the place to be!

A mile down the road from Brook Barn is the village of Malborough.

Charm aplenty with winding country lanes, thatched cottages and pastel coloured houses Malborough is also home to two pubs, a garage with Asda Express for any forgotten items and a post office.

And just beyond the village, on the way to Salcombe, is . A farm shop stocking everything and anything you could possibly need, from wetsuits to gin and even a fantastic butcher for those summer barbecues.

Looking for a virtually deserted, gem of a secluded beach in high season? Wonwell beach is, without doubt, one of the most spectacular. Especially so when low tide reveals a large expanse of golden sandy beach.

There are no facilities and parking is along the narrow lane, both factors helping to retain its hidden-gem feel.

For food & drink try in Mothecombe or The Dolphin Inn in Kingston, both just around the corner.

Can you believe this is Wonwell Beach over half term last week and during a heatwave when most other beaches were getting really busy.

Our little garden is looking lovely at the moment. Lots of colour and it is such a sheltered, peaceful spot. Perfect for a quiet cup of tea in the morning before the rest of the house wakes and a day at the beach.
