🎙️ New episode: the great September Alpine road trip begins!
Fourteen days, one legendary route, and the French Alps at their quietest and most colourful. In the new episode, Steve sets off on an epic road trip inspired by the Route des Grandes Alpes, and this is just Part 1.

He starts on the shores of Lake Geneva in Thonon-les-Bains, then heads up into the mountains through the Haute-Savoie and Beaufortain, all the way to the stunning Roselend Reservoir. It's a slower, more curious way to see the region, taking in the villages, the passes, the lakes and, of course, the cheese.

Where Part 1 takes you:

What actually happens after you say “yes” to a property in the French Alps?
Finding the property can feel like the big hurdle. But as Lesley explains in this week’s episode of the Alpine Property Podcast, it’s often what comes next that buyers need the most help with.

Mortgages work differently in France. Exchange rates can make a very real difference to the cost of an off-plan purchase. Then there are notaries, tax considerations and, eventually, the practicalities of owning and looking after a home hundreds of miles away.

None of it needs to be complicated, but having the right people around you makes a huge difference.

Twenty winters! That’s what’s coming up for us as the lifts get ready to spin again.

When Steve and Lesley started Alpine Property Investments back in 2006, it was two people, a love of the mountains, and a belief that buying out here should feel personal rather than transactional.

Twenty years on, and heading into our 20th season, that hasn’t changed a bit. We’ve watched resorts grow, markets rise and dip, and the Alps turn from a winter-only trip into a genuine year-round way of life.

Through all of it, the way we work has stayed the same: know the resorts inside out, give honest advice even when it means talking someone out of the wrong property, and stick around long after the keys are handed over.

So as the countdown to the new season begins, a simple thank you. To everyone who’s trusted us with one of the biggest decisions they’ll make, and to everyone still dreaming about it.

Most people know Tignes for its snow-sure skiing. Fewer know the story behind it, or how much it has going on the rest of the year.
