Manorbier Beach and beyond.
Manorbier is one of those Pembrokeshire beaches where it would be very easy to arrive, spend a couple of hours and head home — but there’s actually so much more to discover beyond it.
The beach itself is popular with surfers, thanks to its south-westerly position, and with Manorbier Castle sitting above the sand, it’s an impressive spot even before you start exploring.
But if walking is more your thing, Manorbier is a great starting point for discovering more of the Pembrokeshire coast.
Following the Coast Path, you’ll reach Swanlake Bay, a quiet stretch of coastline that’s only accessible on foot. Even in the height of the season, it can feel remarkably peaceful, with the path continuing on towards Freshwater East.
Head in the other direction and the coastline becomes even more dramatic, with Skrinkle Haven and Church Doors tucked between the cliffs. Church Doors takes its name from the huge natural arch carved through the limestone, creating what looks remarkably like a doorway in the rock.
So Manorbier isn’t just somewhere to come for the beach. It’s somewhere you can start at the beach and just keep going — whether that’s a morning on the sand, watching the surfers, or setting off along the Coast Path to see what’s around the next headland.
Which would you explore first — Swanlake Bay, or Skrinkle and Church Doors?
