We’re in good company. 🌿

The Scullery has been named one of Hidden Scotland’s 75 Best Places to Stay this Spring & Summer 2026 — and we’re genuinely chuffed.

When we opened our doors in the Yarrow Valley, we wanted to create somewhere that felt less like a holiday let and more like borrowing a friend’s beautifully tucked-away home.

Somewhere slow.

Somewhere real.

Somewhere that smells of good coffee and old hills.

Turns out, Hidden Scotland felt the same way.

We were recently fortunate enough to be invited to the award-winning Borders Distillery in Hawick for a private tour with one of the distillers and it was truly fascinating.

Housed in the beautifully restored former Hawick electrical works, the distillery is the first Scotch whisky distillery in the Scottish Borders since 1837, bringing whisky-making back to the region after more than 180 years. Watching the process up close, from the mash house to the stills, was an incredible experience. (The Borders Distillery)

What makes it even more special is their commitment to the Borders itself. The barley used to create their spirit is grown locally by Borders farmers, creating a true “seed to spirit” story that reflects the landscape and character of this remarkable region. (The Borders Distillery)
