Instead of leaving behind my days as a tiny, number monkey shaped cog in a vast, oily machine, I thought I'd share some insights I gathered from the experience.
Data is the driving force behind nearly everything nowadays. Your phone, absorbing all your information; social media apps, fed with images, check-ins, and stories. Businesses, services, gadgets and vehicles; governments, researchers, police and doctors - everyone and everything operates based on the data available. Property follows suit.
With the right data, we can swiftly pinpoint the lowest house prices, forecast areas with highest potential to boom in capital appreciation, locate spots with the best returns, identify appealing hotspots, and steer clear of less favorable areas riddled with crime.
It's no longer just about knowing your neighborhood inside out; now, you can construct a comprehensive view that rivals local expertise.
Today, I'm offering a quick tour in our test environment (sorry, I can't share everything!) on how Google Earth can supercharge your property assessment skills, whether you're running a sourcing business or investing for yourself.
(Important to note: its effectiveness hinges on the quality of the data you input. If numbers aren't your bag or you lack the time and expertise to create your own databases or dashboards, I strongly suggest tapping into one of the many excellent property databases available (I'll dive deeper into this another time)).
Google Earth, often underestimated, is a free and immensely powerful tool for visualising data that everyone in the property domain should explore.
From highlighting amenities to showcasing swiftly appreciating areas, Google Earth offers a playground to breathe life into your data and a canvas to paint an incredibly informative picture.
Why not take a look at the video below and give it a whirl yourself?
Oh, and before I forget: If you'd like to take advantage of data-led property investing, but simply lack the skills and time, why not give us a shout and see if we can be of help?
Have a cracking day everyone!
