What a genuinely fantastic day at the Gait & Motion Conference.

It was such an honour to be asked to speak this year, sharing a little bit about how I approach prescribing specific PHITS orthoses in practice. Standing up there was definitely outside my comfort zone, but I’m so glad I said yes!

The whole day was brilliant. I learnt so much, caught up with so many lovely and familiar faces, met some great new ones and came away with lots to think about and take back into clinic.

A huge thank you to the Gait & Motion team for inviting me, looking after me and putting together such a brilliant conference. What a team ❤️

Feeling very grateful, very inspired… and VERY relieved that I can finally stop practising my talk 😂

Happy International Podiatry Day! 👣

We’ll never stop going on about how brilliant it is to be a podiatrist.

Because podiatry is SO much more than cutting toenails.

We assess injuries, diagnose problems, analyse gait and movement, prescribe orthoses, rehabilitate muscles and tendons, manage wounds and diabetic foot complications, perform nail surgery, treat verrucae, manage skin and nail conditions, help people recover from pain and, sometimes, spot the signs of something much more serious.

We look after everyone from children to elite athletes, dancers to runners, people living with long-term health conditions to someone who simply wants to walk the dog without their feet hurting.

Your feet are quite literally the foundation that keeps you moving, working, exercising and doing the things you love. Keeping people mobile and independent matters.

Podiatry is a skilled, varied and incredibly important Allied Health Profession, and we’re very proud to be part of it.

So yes, we WILL continue telling everyone how awesome podiatry is. Happy International Podiatry Day from all of us at LR Podiatry! 💛

Possibly one of the most satisfying treatments in podiatry… 😮‍💨🩸

One squashed toenail, one very painful subungual haematoma and one important football match to get ready for. A few tiny holes released the trapped blood and provided almost immediate relief.

Please don’t try this one at home. Your toenail deserves professional drilling privileges only. ⚽️

The irony of being a podiatrist with plantar fasciitis is not lost on me. 😭

Turns out, knowing how to treat something doesn’t make you immune to getting it yourself. Rude, really.
So here are the 5 things I’ve been doing to manage my own plantar fasciitis and get myself back on my feet (quite literally). 👣

Hairy toes, hairy legs, sweaty feet, sock fluff, chipped nail varnish… the list goes on.

Trust us, you don’t need to get your feet “ready” for us. We’re podiatrists. We’ve seen it all, and we’re really not judging 😂

✨ Meet Harriet! ✨

Harriet is one of our lovely podiatrists here at LR Podiatry and we’re so happy to have her as part of the team! 👣

Her journey into podiatry actually began during her years working as a nail technician, where she saw first-hand just how much foot problems can affect people’s everyday lives. That inspired her to head to university and train as a podiatrist.

Harriet is incredibly caring, empathetic and completely non-judgemental. Her priority is making sure every patient feels comfortable, listened to and supported, whatever brings them through our doors.

She’s recently made the move from Grimsby to Sheffield and is busy settling into her new home. Outside the clinic, she loves walking, cooking and reading, and you’ll very rarely find her without a cup of tea nearby! ☕️

She’s also a huge animal lover, so make sure you tell her all about your furry friends when you see her! 🐾

🌟 Rising Star in Biomechanics nomination! 🌟

We couldn’t be prouder of our director and podiatrist, Emily, who has been nominated for Rising Star in Biomechanics at the Gait in Motion Clinic’s Annual Conference in Birmingham on 9th October.

In just three years since qualifying, Emily has achieved so much. Alongside having a baby and helping to lead and grow LR Podiatry, she has developed a real passion and expertise in MSK and biomechanics, helping patients with foot and ankle pain through detailed gait assessment, rehabilitation, orthotics and treatments such as shockwave therapy.

The growth in our MSK caseload and, more importantly, the results she is achieving for her patients are a real testament to her dedication, knowledge and clinical skills.

To be nominated alongside such a prestigious group of practitioners is a huge achievement in itself, and we are incredibly proud of her. ❤️.
