History & Heritage 📖

We discovered this lettering on our doorstep and having removed the years of dirt and grime we've come to realise it says 'Gilmours' 👀

Duncan Gilmour & Co. Ltd were hop bitters brewers, first registered in 1891.

Gilmours brewed hop bitters at Furnival Gate and fitted doorsteps around pubs in sheffield but later began beer brewing at Lady's Bridge.

They were acquired along with 342 houses by Joshua Tetley & Son Ltd in 1954 and ceased brewing in 1959.

Only 8 steps are left remaining in Sheffield and we have one of them so we'll be proudly cleaning these up and showing these off soon. 🏆
