After a few days’ break, we’re now looking ahead and planning some fundraising events to help support the Alliance’s legal costs, as well as any potential legal costs for our individual sites if needed.

We’d love to hear what events you’d be interested in attending or supporting. Some ideas so far include:

• Band nights
• Kids’ events
• Wine tasting
• Beer festival
• Summer fayre

Let us know in the comments what you’d like to see and feel free to suggest any other ideas too!

We just want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who submitted objections during the consultation period, and to all of you who’ve supported us throughout this journey from objections, sending in ideas and brownfield sites, fundraising, to showing up at a moments notice for photos in fields, and for sharing post after post, THANK YOU 💚

A special shoutout to:

* Chutney, for displaying our sign for months and months
* John at The Devonshire Arms - Middle-Handley, for his generous donation towards signage
* The amazing residents of White Lane Farm, for hosting our signage for so long and putting up an even bigger sign recently!
* Darren and the team at Carlton Social Club (Sheffield) Limited for giving us a space to meet time and time again
* To Matt at the BBC for covering our story
* To Bruce for his fabulous baking and fundraising (our own Nifty Norbot)
* Lovely locals collecting signatures in pubs and cafes
* Gleadless Library and Frechville Library for having our petition and paper copies of the objection for posting
* Co-op White Lane for having paper copies of the objection for posting
* To every business/community centre who’s had a poster at some point, Webster’s Butchers, Studio 185, Charnock News, Co-op, St Peter’s Church, to name a few (sorry to those we have forgotten).

Thank you as well to our friends in S13 & S35 for your support and advice, and to the alliance for working alongside us. To Clive Betts and his team for their support and advice.

**Now to our amazing little team.**

Thank you to our incredible street team for delivering 5,000 leaflets covering miles and miles (if you got a leaflet it’s one of our team who delivered it), putting up numerous posters, and gathering hundreds of signatures you’ve been phenomenal 👏. To our small but mighty writing and admin team, who’ve worked tirelessly behind the scenes on research, writing, editing video clips, identifying brownfield sites, admin, organising accounts, attending hearings, raising funds, talking to press, holding meeting after meeting, and spreading the word… we couldn’t have done this without you. Thank you to our ever understanding families for losing us to this again for hours on end (messages often began at 6:30am and didn’t finishing until gone 10:00pm).

Our latest objection is now in. We wait, we hope… and if we’re honest, we’re a bit knackered!

Keep your eyes peeled for updates and next steps 👀 we aren’t done just yet

Someone once said we had no community in Charnock… I think we well and truly proved that wrong 💚

📢 Sheffield Local Plan - What It Means for S12

Many people don’t realise the scale of development being proposed across S12 - but when you add it all together, the impact is significant and the building at Charnock could begin as soon as 2028 and go on for 20 years!

🏡 Proposed housing in and around S12:
• White Lane SS19 (Green Belt) – 304 homes
• White Lane to Birley Lane (North East Derbyshire, Green Belt) – 348 homes
• Norton Aerodrome – 270 homes
• Silkstone Road – 272 homes
• Jaunty Avenue (Greenfield) – 75 homes
• Newstead (under construction) – 218 homes
• Manor Top Army Reserve Centre – 151 homes
• Former Foxwood Care Home – 19 homes

📊 **Total: 1,657 new homes**

This level of development will have a major impact on our community, affecting traffic, schools, GP services, infrastructure, and green spaces.

Because these developments are spread across S12, the supporting infrastructure you might expect at this scale isn’t being delivered in one place and it’s residents who will feel the strain.

(*Note: Green Belt areas are not fully shown yet*)

🏗 If approved, development at SS19 (Charnock S12) could begin in **2028–2036**, in two years we will be living with the building site! With nearby North East Derbyshire sites potentially extending building into the **2040s**. Resulting in nearly 20 years of building!

🗳 Local councillors are expected to vote on the plan this summer.

⏰ And don’t forget-there’s now very little time left to submit objections. Deadline is 5pm on 5th May.

🙏 Please make your voice heard before the deadline.
