📣🏠 Calling all landlords...

The government is bringing in a new rule for landlords in England. From December, you'll need to register your rental property on a national database — it's starting in the West Midlands and rolling out to the rest of the country over the next year, with every landlord needing to be signed up by November 2027. Fines will apply for those who miss the deadline for your area.

It's part of the wider Renters' Rights Act changes, and letting agents will need to show registration numbers on property adverts too.

We'll keep our landlord clients posted on timings as it reaches Shropshire. If you have any landlord/tenant queries do give us a call.

📌 If you did apply in window 1, make sure you accept the offer within 30 days.

🌿 DEFRA Capital Grants Scheme 2026 is now open 🌿

The team has been busy preparing applications today and is ready to help you submit yours.

Remember, supporting evidence is a key part of the application. Depending on the capital items you’re applying for, you’ll need to provide the required documentation within 10 working days of submitting your application. This may include:

✅ Maps showing the location of the proposed works
✅ Land ownership or tenancy evidence (where required)
✅ Business viability information
✅ Catchment Sensitive Farming support (for relevant items)
✅ Any additional item-specific evidence outlined in the Capital Grants guidance.

Demand is expected to be high, so if you’re considering applying, don’t leave it until the last minute. Applications are being processed in the order they are received and the application window will close when the budget has been fully allocated.

📅 Capital Grants 2026 – The new Capital Grants round is expected to open Thursday 30 July. Defra is running a free webinar on Wed 22 July, 2–3:30pm, covering the application/claims process (RPA) and which grant items may need advice first (Catchment Sensitive Farming), plus live Q&A.

⏳ SFI26 Window 1 – 75% of the Window 1 budget is now allocated. If you're planning to apply, do it soon – funding is going fast. Before applying, double-check your digital maps show all land parcels correctly and you have at least 3ha of agricultural land. Missed Window 1? Window 2 is expected to open in September.
