Post-Pandemic Positives…

The ONS collected data that reflected people’s anxiety peaked during the 2nd COVID wave. Pre-pandemic, from July 2019 to March 2020, 10% of adults reported suffering from moderate to severe depressive symptoms, which rose to over 20% from January 2021 to March 2021. A lot of these anxieties arose through lack of stability and worries regarding the cost of living only exasperated this. The concern of job safety and how the pandemic would impact their current role, with the saturation of furloughs and companies collapsing, it’s no wonder people felt uncertain and worried.
At BWR we had spent a few years pre-pandemic putting the right systems in to place to move our business online, which meant when COVID hit, our team were able to work from home without our business, clients or leaseholders being impacted. Our staff were able to, somewhat seamlessly, transition to the new normal of working from the kitchen table. Rather than furlough any staff members we trained the team up, kept in regular contact with each other via teams and tried to keep morale up.

Since COVID our team requested we continue a hybrid working set up, which we have, so our team can work from home and the office. We are proud to be able to offer this to our staff since flexibility and the importance of work life balance has had such a spotlight on it since COVID.

The electric train, which runs the full 640m of the pier, was created to carry passengers from the shore to the end of the pier where they could board the Hythe-Southampton ferry, and vice versa.
It was opened in July 1922 and has run continuously for over a century now.
