Buying blocks of flats or multiple units at once?

If you are buying blocks of flats or small housing developments, then you need to be aware multiple dwellings relief was abolished in 2024. It is essential to calculate which route might create a saving, compared to the standard residential rate and the additional surcharge that is applicable for single investment properties.

If you want to buy blocks and would prefer new build purpose-built space, then working with our team and developers can create savings by forward funding a land purchase with a build contract to reduce the tax liability when compared to buying an existing block. This does come with other pros and cons that need to be seriously considered.

As with all these things, good advice from a specialist is essential.

Meet Mava: Janice Ball

This week, during Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re shining a spotlight on Janice Ball, our Mental Health First Aider here at Mava Real Estate.

Jan oversees the smooth running of all client account mandates, banking and compliance within the department. With a career in property management spanning almost 30 years, she works closely with our property managers on year-end accounts, service charge budgets and reporting, including for overseas clients. And when it comes to Excel spreadsheets… Jan is definitely our wizard.

Outside of work, Jan is a member of a local running club and is passionate about supporting wellbeing in the workplace through her role as a Mental Health First Aider.
