From the air, land tells its own story: where the hedgerows link up, how far the woodland reaches, where the wet ground sits.

Image Surveys offers ecological reporting by drone. We produce measured habitat maps and clear written reports for farms, estates, golf courses and anyone who needs a Biodiversity Net Gain baseline.

✔ Whole-site habitat maps
✔ Measured hedgerows, woodland and water features
✔ Repeat surveys to track change year on year

We capture the evidence. Your ecologist makes the call.

I kept both posts to standard RGB mapping. They don't mention thermal, LiDAR or multispectral, and they don't include coastal habitats or pricing.

Roofs, spires and stonework you can't safely reach, and the spaces inside, captured in 3D. Image Surveys combines drone surveys with interior 3D scanning for heritage buildings, estates and commercial property. Everything is delivered as a clear, actionable report your architect, surveyor or insurer can use. Not a folder of photos but a meaningful reference point document that can be compared over time

Property Managers: Are You Breaking the Law?

A tenant reports a leak. A storm takes a few slates. So someone grabs a ladder, or a roofer goes up "just for a quick look".

Under the Work at Height Regulations 2005, the first question is always: does anyone need to go up at all? You may need scaffold or ladders to effect the repair, but what about that first inspection?

If it can reasonably be done safely from the ground, it must be. That duty extends to anyone instructing contractors, and that includes property managers.

If someone falls, the burden shifts to YOU to prove a drone wasn't reasonably practicable. After 15 years as a criminal solicitor, I can tell you "it was only a quick look" and "I didn't realise" are not defences. And the legal fees will dwarf the cost of a drone inspection!

The simple fix? Call a drone operator first. If we can do it, nobody goes up the ladder. If we can't, you have evidence for your decision.

Actionable Reports. Not a folder of photos.

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 is clear: avoid working at height wherever it's reasonably practicable. Sending someone onto a roof to look at storm damage is a decision you have to justify — and if a drone can capture the same information to the same standard, "we've always sent someone up" is a weak position.
Falls are still the biggest single cause of workplace deaths in Great Britain.

Aerial photography and video for commercial property and land
An aerial view explains a site in a way no ground-level photograph can: the whole footprint, the access routes, the setting, and the relationship between buildings, land and boundaries.

Flights are planned and authorised properly — airspace checks, landowner permission, risk assessment and public safety management — which is what allows work in built-up areas and near sensitive sites.

Well the 11th named storm season is now underway. The first Gales have hit Scotland and the first named storm( Austen) will be along soon.

How will you get on managing your business in event you have to make a claim. Generally time is money and so when downtime is measured in thousands of pounds every hour counts. Insurance claims need evidence and quotes but getting that can take time when everyone is busy. Insurance companies may need evidence of the pre storm condition too and that can be a real block to progress if the last time your roof was looked at was when you moved your business in 15 years ago! As claim lead times stretch the disruption and sleepless nights increase. Meanwhile the damaged elevation is the least safe place to be putting a person, particularly while the weather is still unsettled. It could also be criminal too under HSE rules!

Our advice is plan now. Get a roof survey done before any storms. Then you can store that away and you have it ready when your insurance company asks for evidence of condition. Plus, if we find any damage you can get that resolved before the bad weather and before all the trades become booked up with storm repairs. We will even give 10% off our roof survey price until 30th October so you have something to smile about. Prices start from as low as £175 plus VAT!

For those of you based in the North West of England we can attend, capture the full roof and every elevation, and be off site inside a morning. No scaffold, no roof access, nobody working at height. If your outside our area we can even help find you someone locally as part of the service!

What comes back isn’t a folder of phone snaps. It’s an authored report: dated and timed capture, recorded method, signed off by an identified author who will defend it if needed . That standard comes from our founder’s background, around 15 years as a criminal solicitor and advocate before 23 years as a forensic and commercial photographer.

Most claims settle without that ever being tested. But where quantum is disputed, where it’s pre-existing wear versus storm damage, or where a subrogated recovery is in play, the difference between a documented survey and undated photographs is substantial.

Then if disaster strikes you have access to our 24 hour manned number. We will be on site as soon as we are safe and legal to fly after the storm with the sole purpose of getting you the information needed to process any claim fast and successfully. The report will be to the same standards as the original and we will even make a 10% donation of our fees for the emergency call out to our local independent lifeboat so you will be helping others too.

Don't get caught out.

Storm season is here and Austen and his pals will be visiting. One fun fact - no storm is named using the fist letter Q,U,XYZ. The reason is Europe follows the Americans convention on how it names hurricanes!

Recording historic buildings without touching them
Listed and historic structures are the hardest to survey conventionally. Scaffolding is expensive and intrusive, fabric is fragile, and the detail that matters most — finials, parapets, leadwork, masonry, roof structures — is exactly what nobody can reach.
Image Surveys carries out non-contact aerial recording of churches, halls, mills, monuments and listed buildings, producing close-range high-resolution imagery, measured elevation records, orthorectified façade plans and 3D models of the envelope.
The results support quinquennial and condition inspection, repair specification and tender documents, listed building consent applications, grant submissions, and a permanent digital record of the fabric as it stands today.
Flying near heritage assets takes care: airspace, congested settings, nesting birds, visitors and the fabric itself. Operations are planned accordingly, with method statements and risk assessments produced in advance.
Delivered as an authored survey report with annotated imagery and a clear account of what was and was not visible.
