We really recommend a day trip to see the only free roaming reindeer in the UK at The Cairngorm Reindeer Herd near Aviemore. The hill trip is just brilliant.

The trip starts with a walk along a well maintained, fairly steep path which leads to the reindeer. Once on the hill you roam freely among the reindeer which is incredible. The reindeer are really inquisitive and walk closely to you - one even tried to nibble my bag!

You have the opportunity to feed the reindeer too which is a lovely experience. The reindeer are very gentle and have no top teeth, so it's impossible for them to bite you!

Just below Gairlochy Lighthouse, where Loch Lochy joins the Caledonian Canal, is a lovely pebble beach. It's a beautiful spot to sit and take in the views. It is also a perfect location for wild swimming.

Jessica travelled from Australia to stay at Burnbank Lodges. Here's what she had to say about her time here:

It Is Very Picturesque

“A great little hideaway only a 10min drive from Fort William. The lodges are situated in a nice little woodland area next to a river, it was very picturesque.

The hosts were very friendly and helpful and the lodge has everything you need for an extended stay.”

Happy guests = happy us 😍

Here's what Anne and Michael from Ireland had to say about their stay at Burnbank Lodges:

Warm And Cosy Lodges
“We had a lovely stay at Burnbank Lodges. Everything we needed for a self catering stay was provided. The lodge was really warm and cosy when we arrived.

It was a lovely and tranquil stay. Burnbank is a wonderful place to unwind with a woodland surrounding the lodge. We were delighted to have a family of ducks visit us. Would love to find an excuse to come to visit again.”
