Delighted to say we obtained unanimous approval at Planning Committee for our 27 unit development in Stamford. Full Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for the conversion of a G2 listed building into 10 luxury apartments and the conversion of another heritage building into one detached house, plus outline planning for 16 large new build townhouses. This was a complex hybrid application involving significant archaeology considerations and heritage matters including a Scheduled Ancient Monument (which will be subject to a future application).
It was a smooth ride on the day, but mostly because we had already put in the hard yards earlier by preparing a robust strategy and submission, anticipating all the bumps in the road. The committee members were complimentary regarding the scheme and the way the process had been managed.
It felt odd to be on the same side as the Planning Officer and he did a great job in terms of presenting the merits of the case, particularly with regard to heritage and archaeology. Even the local history interest groups and Civic Society were gracious in a losing cause, but I do think that they were appeased a little in understanding that we are a responsible developer and committed to protect the heritage assets and archaeology.
Massive credit to our entire consultant team, too many to mention individually but led superbly by Peter Higginbottom and our own Joanna Plant.
The real work starts now!
