Planning Approved!
Just the 18 months this time, an improvement on previous applications that took 24 months, and another that's currently at 30 months and counting.
It’s no surprise the UK struggles to deliver enough housing and infrastructure when even straightforward brownfield developments in areas supportive of regeneration can take this long to navigate the planning system.
The barriers to entry for developers continue to rise. Every application seems to require another consultant report, costs keep increasing, and planning decisions often feel unpredictable.
The result? Fewer small and medium-sized developers entering the market, less competition, fewer homes being delivered, and less work for the huge network of contractors, consultants and suppliers that development supports.
While the process can be challenging, developments like this remind us why we do it. Stockport is undergoing a remarkable transformation, and we're delighted to be contributing to the delivery of much needed new homes in the town centre.
