Kingham is one of those villages that feels a little quieter than some of the better-known Cotswolds stops, but it has all the things you came for…

Honey-coloured stone cottages, wide village greens, country lanes, beautiful surrounding countryside and some very good places to eat.

It’s the sort of place made for a slow wander, a long lunch and a few hours with absolutely no need to rush anywhere.

And because it sits within easy reach of Chipping Norton, Stow-on-the-Wold and the wider Oxfordshire Cotswolds, it’s makes a brilliant addition to a weekend in the area.

This one should definitely be on your list. 🌿

A countryside escape for people who still quite like Wi-Fi. 🌿

Tucked beneath a horse chestnut tree in peaceful Honeybourne, Cosy Conkers is a charming dog-friendly shepherd’s hut made for slowing down without disappearing completely.

Inside, it’s warm, cosy and cleverly equipped, with Wi-Fi and a television for evenings when a full digital detox feels a little ambitious. Outside, you’ve got a wonderfully quiet rural setting, village pubs and a shop within walking distance, and some of the Cotswolds’ best-known spots surprisingly close by.

The real bonus? Honeybourne railway station is nearby, with direct links towards Moreton-in-Marsh, Kingham, Charlbury, Oxford and London Paddington, making this an easy little escape even without a car.

You’re also just a short drive from Chipping Campden, Broadway and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Village green views, duck ponds, country pubs and nowhere in particular to rush to. 🌿

Kempsey House sits right on the green in Frampton on Severn, a beautiful Gloucestershire village with centuries of character and one of those settings that feels made for slower weekends.

Inside, there’s plenty of space for families and friends to spread out, from the cosy sitting room and family room to the bright open-plan kitchen and dining space overlooking the garden. Upstairs, four bedrooms include a lovely four-poster room, while outside, bi-fold doors open onto a private terrace and walled garden for long lunches and summer evenings.

You can leave the car where it is too. The village has two pubs, a bistro and local shop, while canal-side walks, cycling routes and paths towards the River Severn are all close by.

And if you do fancy venturing further, both the Cotswolds and the Forest of Dean are within easy reach for day trips.

A very good base for village life, countryside walks and doing considerably less for a few days. 🤍
