Our Story…
Strangford Escapes⁠ was born from a deep love of home. Both my husband and I were born and raised in Strangford. Like many teenagers growing up in a small village, we often complained there was “nothing to do” and couldn’t wait to explore beyond it. How things change. Today, there is nowhere else we would rather be. Although we love travelling as a family, we are reminded every day just how fortunate we are to live here and raise our family in such a special place. We wanted to share that feeling with others and that is how Strangford Escapes began. In 2020, close friends of ours decided to sell their home, 5 Cuan Narrows. They had fallen in love with another property in the village and were eager to secure it quickly. During a conversation about their plans, I casually suggested, “Why don’t we buy it?” That simple idea soon became reality. After months of legalities, tourism board inspections, decorating, planning & hard work, 5 Cuan Narrows welcomed its very first guests in May 2021, just as Covid restrictions began to lift. Four years later came No.1. We had privately rented this house for 13 years before deciding to completely transform it. In Aug 2024, we began a full renovation, inside and out, carefully redesigning every detail to create a beautiful space for guests to enjoy. In April 2025, No.1 officially opened its doors. And so, Strangford Escapes truly came to life. As a family-run business, we personally manage every aspect ourselves — from bookings, cleaning, laundry to social media, administration, and accounts. The list is endless, but so is our passion for what we do. We work incredibly hard to ensure every guest has a memorable experience. Whether guests gather for family reunions, birthday celebrations, girlie trips, weddings, golf trips, sailing adventures, walking groups, cold water dipping weekends, or simply a peaceful escape to relax and recharge, we believe Strangford is the perfect place to come together. Our guests arrive for many different reasons, but we hope they all leave with the same thing — unforgettable memories and a love for Strangford as strong as our own. We hope we can be a small part of your story too 💛
