Power Outage Notice: AEDC Announces Planned Maintenance for February 21, 2026

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a scheduled power outage due to planned maintenance aimed at improving electricity supply reliability in parts of Abuja.

Maintenance Details:

Responsible Agency: Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN)

Activity: Maintenance on the 60MVA Transformer (TR1)

Location: Katampe Transmission Substation

Date: Saturday, February 21, 2026
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Areas to Be Affected:

Residents and businesses in the following locations should expect temporary power interruption:

Parts of Gwarinpa

Dawaki

News Engineering

France Engineering

Charley Boy Area

Surrounding communities

Background Information.
This maintenance exercise was initially scheduled around the period of the FCT council polls but was postponed following public reactions and consumer concerns.

The earlier planned outage was expected to affect parts of:

Mpape
Bwari
Jere
Jiwa
Jahi
Karimo
Idu
Suleja

These areas may continue to be monitored for future maintenance activities.

Purpose of the Exercise.
According to AEDC and TCN, the maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to:

Improve service reliability

Strengthen power infrastructure

Reduce future outages

Residents are advised to make necessary arrangements during the outage period.
