No Padel Please - Sutton Coldfield

No Padel Please - Sutton Coldfield We are a group of Residents concerned about Birmingham Planning Application 2024/07622/PA.

We object to Sutton Coldfield Tennis Club's plans to install three, additional padel courts off Highbridge Road in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands UK

06/01/2025

Delighted to say the Planning Officer has confirmed that the planning application will now go to a Committee meeting for consideration. This could take many weeks. This has happened due to over 20 objections being received.

The planning officer has also said that any additional representations will be considered prior to her report for the Committee.

We still believe the application is invalid and will press this.

In the meantime please ensure you diarise nuisance including light and noise pollution, use - other than for tennis, highways safety issues and any planning breaches you may be aware of.

We want residents to be able to live peacefully in their own homes and for everyone using Highbridge Road to be safe.

This is a national problem!

Why is the Lawn Tennis Association replacing lawn tennis courts with Padel?

It makes more money.

That does not promote Lawn Tennis, it reduces it, whilst impacting peoples lives significantly

Locals next to upmarket fitness club threaten legal action over 'gunshot sounds' on padel courts https://mol.im/a/14221237 via https://dailym.ai/android

Occupants of properties neighbouring Wi******er Racquets and Fitness club are up in arms about the prospect of 'exponential' worsening of the sounds they are subjected to day and night.

Do you have family at Care Home? Are they aware of this planning application? The courts will be right up to the boundary.

Does anyone know when the existing Padel Court was installed as we can't seem to find a planning record for it.

The current plans are to install 3 more taking the total to 4.

Horrendous traffic safety issues tonight, without the extra courts. It's fair to say despite widespread support in the past, over the last few years, recent overdevelopment, increased traffic, parking, light and noise pollution has all reached an unacceptable point. This is downright dangerous. To add more is reckless and beyond acceptable. Indeed issues need addressing now.

These are from another local Padel Court that has already been built. We're genuinely concerned about many issues. Over development and Scale are two issues in such a tight and restricted site at Sutton Coldfield Tennis Club.

How noisy is Padel.

Its far noisier than normal Tennis.

~Normal Tennis = 45 decibels
~Padel = 68-70 decibles
~There are more hits per hour in Padel as well
~Cheering noise in tournaments adds crowd noise
~13 hours a day of 68-70 decibels is significant
~8 more players an hour is significant
~78 additional cars a day is significant
Being so close to people's bedrooms, homes and gardens is not acceptable
Our lovely wildlife which makes its home in the wildlife corridor will be stressed by the additional noise

The number of padel courts is growing massively and the sport is embraced by many people. However, noise is a downside, especially to neighbors that…
